· Find a perfect location for setting up your music school. Always consider the size of your group classes or private lessons. It is not necessary to purchase a place and set up a music school there, in fact you can also set it up at your home. You can take a place on lease or can visit your pupils’ homes. If you prefer to lease a commercial space, you should negotiate and sign a contract with a landlord, and always work hand in hand with the property management team to build your space as desired.

· If you are setting it up on a commercial place, you should give it a name and file it with your state. Apply for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) for tax purposes. Also you need to open up a bank account and apply for a credit card for your business.

· Once you have done the paperwork, it’s time to lease or purchase the equipment, you may need for this purpose. This might include telephones, a fax machine, computer, a credit card machine, wipe boards, instruments, music stands, office and classroom furniture, and a collection of sheet music.

· After you music school is ready for starting officially, you need to make a promotion of it. First, you should develop a website, advertise in local papers and post flyers throughout your community. You can also purchase a signage for your school if you have leased a space.
